AY XXX

The Art Soiree

Background

AY XXX: The Art Soiree was a private 30th birthday celebration in London that blurred the lines between an art exhibition and an exclusive soirée. With over 100 guests in attendance, the evening showcased original photography and mixed-media canvases alongside live music, curated food and drink, and a seamless transformation into an afterparty. The goal was to create a multi-sensory experience that engaged sight, sound, scent, taste, and touch; turning a milestone birthday into a high-concept cultural event.

Design Journey

Where it Started

The client wanted something beyond a traditional birthday party: a night that reflected his creativity, Nigerian heritage and love for art. The brief was simple yet ambitious “an art exhibition that becomes a party.” From the beginning, this project was approached as more than an event. It was treated like a brand activation, with every touchpoint, from digital invitations to physical details, designed to build anticipation and deliver a lasting impression.

How it Ended

On the night, guests entered a gallery transformed into a living, breathing canvas. Red uplighting, original artworks, and a custom signature scent set the tone. From there, every sense was engaged: taste through bespoke cocktails, scent-led canapés, and late-night cupcakes; touch and sight through interactive elements like personalised Polaroids, monogrammed napkins, and branded lollipops; sound through carefully curated music that transitioned the evening from exhibition to afterparty.

By the time the DJ took over and jello shots signalled the shift into party mode, guests were fully immersed. The evening closed with cupcakes as a sweet farewell.
